University Troupe Takes Stage at Edinburgh Fringe

Kent State University's "Transforum Theatre!" returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a brand new original work, "A Grimm Beginning"

The Story

The worlds of Jamie and Ryan Grimm, descendants of the Brother's Grimm, are turned upside down when their mother passes away unexpectedly, leaving behind an unfinished story. The siblings attempt to continue the story, but their plans shift when the chief editor moves the deadline up three weeks. Jamie, lost in his world of fairytales, urges Ryan to step away from her family to focus on completing this story on time, but Ryan insists that her life cannot be put on hold for this story. Will the pressure of being on a time crunch and being part of the blood line that made these stories a legacy get to them? Or can they rise above as siblings and get the job done?

Who we are

Transform Theatre!, re-founded in 2023, is a theatre troupe associated with the School of Theatre and Dance. Every two years, we send a group of students to Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which is the largest theatre festival in the world. In the years in-between, we host events that are aimed to grow the skills of our individual members, as well as expand their understanding of the world of theatre.
